ARB 050 Arabic Remedial II
ARB 050 is the second part of the IAP combined sequence. Students continue to develop fluency and accuracy.
The course work focuses on comprehensive skills as well as academic preparation skills, including the fundamentals of essay writing and the development of critical reading, listening and note-taking skills. The goal for students completing this level of the IAP is to transition to ARB 100 and beyond.
The ARB 050 is a ten-credit course of 200 contact hours per semester and conducted at a higher level from low-intermediate to intermediate.
The interactive and engaging approach is essential for this course. It is directed through language games, role-play, authentic materials and also task-oriented practices. There is a set of assessment methods used for the course such as regular assignments, quizzes, partial exams, projects and the final exam.
Similar to ARB 000, the distribution of 200 contact hours per semester for ARB 050 is over 15 weeks; 5 days per week; 13 hrs & 25 min per week; 2 hrs & 45 min per day.
Students must be open to accepting a morning or evening schedule depending on availability.
