Admission to the Sophomore Year

Applicants to the sophomore year should hold the following credentials to be admitted:
1. Lebanese Baccalaureate Part II, the Technical Baccalaureate – BT, the French Baccalaureate, the German Abitur, or the Italian Maturita.
2. International Baccalaureate (IB) with six subjects (three at the higher level and three at the subsidiary level).
3. General Certificate of Education (GCE) with five different subjects (three at the ordinary level and two at the advanced level) excluding Arabic.
4. CEGEP II (Collège d'enseignement général et professionnel).
5. All Arab government secondary certificates (e.g. Syrian Baccalaureate, Saudi Secondary School Certificate, etc…).
6. The Institution shall study the curricula of the various programs which include external examinations such as GCE, IB, and CEGEP II in order to transfer courses or to be exempted from credits.

Admission with a Freshman Equivalence from the Lebanese Ministry of Higher Education

• Students who have successfully obtained “Freshman Equivalency” from the Equivalence committee of the Lebanese Ministry of Higher Education are allowed to apply to Al Maaref University.

• Take notice that the Lebanese, as well as other nationality applicants, should hold a secondary school certificate based on twelve years of schooling and awarded by foreign governments or recognized private schools.

• The Ministry of Education and Higher Education located near the UNESCO, Beirut, provides applicants with the criteria and application procedures necessary either to meet equivalence standards for the freshman year with the Lebanese Baccalaureate or to pursue a degree program starting with the freshman year.

Admission to Remedial Program

• Important to mention that students whose scores on Al Maaref University Placement Tests do not meet the level required to start the Sophomore Year directly are expected to take on a remedial program.

• The Remedial program is credit-based yet not accredited and counts towards neither the Freshman Year nor the sophomore. However, the Remedial program is a necessary path for those students who have not met a particular level of scores on their MU Placement Test (Arabic, English, French, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics), assigned as a condition to start a study at a sophomore level.

• Depending on the obtained scores on the MU Placement Test, students on remedial programs are allowed to start with some few courses related to the University Requirements or General Education requirements of the Major, on the condition that the students' scores allow them to do so.
