Al Maaref University Library: Student’s Constant Companion
In light of technological and information technology advancements, along with wide Internet resources that may not be user-friendly, students face a set of challenges which can be overcome by turning out to the University library, as it remains a basic need for their specializations, aspirations and research requirements throughout their studying period.
Thus, Al Maaref University has launched at the beginning of this year an integrated and supportive library program, which is now available on the online catalog (OPAC). The program provides all necessary services and distinguished electronic resources to support the educational process and scientific research for students, academics and administrators at the university.
The library is pleased to grant its members this program, which enables them to search the library's collection of books and other materials providing easy access to University bibliographic databases.
The library provides, on its e-page via the university's official website (www.mu.edu.lb), a suitable means for beneficiaries both on and off campus, as they can search and reserve books online through an organized and accurate index. The page directs researchers to use the available resources and services according to specific systems and mechanisms; such as the borrowing system designed for students and the educational and administrative bodies, the unified automatic indexing, and the ‘Ask the Librarian’ service for any help or guidance.
The user interface has auxiliary features such as optimization, effectiveness, easy recovery from errors and wrong choices, usage of appropriate language, and the ability to filter out a book which may be queried whether the user knows one or all of its search element (essentially the author, title and subject fields).
The program is flexible and provides a set of useful links ensuring public interface to the system’s inventory. These links include information about the library such as: address, opening hours, the exact location of a term on the library shelves, and links to web resources...
The library seeks with this program to support and provide pioneering services in scientific research through advanced technological means, serving as a portal to reach distinguished digital resources from all over the world, in order to help produce and disseminate knowledge, bolster the teaching and learning process, and support scientific research.
Users can also view announcements on new books arrivals or any new activity organized in the library. The library is keen on holding cultural activities and interviews structured around books and stories, and sharing experiences among students, to help them continuously in the search for new sources of information. It is noteworthy that the library's resources were chosen by qualified academic staff in accordance with the quality standards in this field.
Users can access the program through their university e-mail via the following link: library.mu.edu.lb, and take advantage of the available e-resources, or click on the (Browse shelf) to locate the required book in the library while on campus.
