‘Christian Resource Translation’ Hosted by Kitab wa Turjuman
"Kitab wa Turjuman", the student club of the Translation and Languages Department at Al Maaref University (MU), organized a workshop titled "Translating Faith: Techniques and Challenges in Christian Resource Translation". The workshop was presented by the Publishing and Communications Manager at Dar Manhal al Hayat, Dr. Sandra El-Hajj, in the presence of the department chairperson, Dr. Zeinab Anis Jaber, along with several graduates and students. It took place on Friday, April 26th, 2024, at the university library (Building A) in Beirut.
The workshop featured creative ideas on translating the Bible for children and conveying complex religious concepts smoothly and clearly to young minds. The trainer provided a detailed and clear explanation of how to translate Christian religious texts for children, emphasizing the importance of choosing appropriate titles and elucidating the significance of the book's external and internal appearance (such as colors, organization, sequential flow of ideas, etc.), highlighting the challenges faced by translators when translating the Bible.
The workshop witnessed active participation from future translators who expressed their appreciation for the insights gained and the skills honed during the session. It concluded with a commemorative photo gathering all the attendees.
