FBA Students in a Virtual Visit to the IASB
Twenty MU Accounting Students were welcomed to a virtual visit to the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.
The two-hour visit allowed participating students to hear from the International Accounting Standards Board Chairman Andreas Barckow, who engaged with students for an hour about the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Foundation, the Use of IFRS Accounting Standards, their structure and the IASB work.
The second part of the visit was carried out by an IASB technical staff Jenifer Minke-Girard, who provided a deep dive into technical matters. Jenifer discussed with students the Conceptual Framework for Financial Reporting, Goodwill, and the holdings of cryptocurrencies. She ended with a discussion, highlighting the career opportunities that lay ahead.
The IFRS Foundation is a not-for-profit, public interest organisation established to develop a single set of high-quality, understandable, enforceable, and globally accepted accounting and sustainability disclosure standards—IFRS Standards—and to promote and facilitate adoption of the standards.
