FBA Webinar: Lebanon-China Economic Relations
The Faculty of Business Administration at Al Maaref University held, on Thursday, November 11, 2021, a webinar entitled “The Fiftieth Anniversary of the Lebanese-Chinese Relations: Economic Dimensions and Prospects for Cooperation”, in which it hosted the Vice President of the Arab Chinese Cooperation & Development Association ACCDA (Pan Arab, China), Dr. Pierre Al Khoury.

In a welcoming speech, The Dean of the Faculty Dr. Bassam Hamdar commended the essence of strategic economic relations between Lebanon and China. Hamdar drew attention to the need for Lebanon to embrace projects from any country in the world, after having lost an essential part of its role in the region, highlighting the difficulties the country would face with regard to economic development throughout years to come. The Faculty Dean stressed the importance of benefiting from economic offers from any country, including America, Russia and China, as well as Iran, which has become indispensable for most Middle Eastern countries.
For his part, Dr. Khoury lauded the history of the Lebanese-Chinese joint relations, recalling the approved agreements, their timing, and merits, in addition to the structure of the Chinese and Lebanese economies and making the most of China in this regard. The ACCDA Vice-President tackled the legislative obstacles that stumble block the profitability from abroad, pointing out the importance of Chinese expertise assistance along with projects that can be implemented and invested in among relevant sectors.
A wide space of discussion was opened to students with the speaker guest who addressed their inquiries about the scope of the seminar, as it relates to the economic crisis overwhelming Lebanon. At the end, Dr. Al Khoury hailed the students for their outstanding knowledge and follow-up in the business field.
