Journalism Editing Workshop Hosted by “Kitab wa Turjuman”

"Kitab wa Turjuman", the student club of the Translation and Languages Department at Al Maaref University (MU), organized a training workshop for its members on news article editing. The workshop, conducted by instructor Fatima Al-Moussawi from the Faculty of Mass Communication and Fine Arts, took place on Thursday, November 23, 2023, at the university campus (Block A).

Ms. Al-Moussawi provided a comprehensive overview of the nature of news, emphasizing the ethical values underpinning it. She highlighted the essential elements and criteria for diverse and reliable sources of publication. The trainer delved into the proper editing of news, emphasizing the importance of crafting it in an engaging and clear manner. Topics covered included the use of impactful language, adherence to basic editing rules, optimal timing for news releases, and the significance of relevance and immediacy. Ms. Al-Moussawi also stressed the importance of avoiding journalistic competition and negative rivalry.

The workshop included practical exercises and various models related to news editing, fostering discussions between the trainer and the participants.
