Literary Symposium for FRH Students
The Faculty of Religions and Human Sciences (FRH) at Al Maaref University organized a literary symposium titled 'Literary Text: From Orality to Narrative and Dialogical Discourse', on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at the university campus (Building A) in Beirut, with the attendance of instructors and students from the faculty.
After a recitation from the Holy Quran and the Lebanese national anthem, Dr. Farid Othman, the symposium director, commenced the event with a welcoming speech, introducing literature and its domains.
Dr. Ali Nasseredine presented an approach related to the literary text as a discourse of the stage, emphasizing its artistic creativity and uniqueness in expression. He pointed out the distinction between text analysis and discourse analysis, stating that 'discourse will become a historical and significant entity in the collective memory of the nation, considering the fusion of spoken and written language with ideal narrative and intense dialogue'.
Then, Dr. Ghada Allaw presented an approach titled 'The Title as a Textual and Discursive Sign'. Following that, Dr. Fadwa Moghnieh presented a second approach titled 'Poets of the Stage and Audience Reception'. The symposium concluded with questions from students and instructors, along with their contributions.
