MU Celebrates the Opening of the New Building (Block C)
Al Maaref University held the opening ceremony of its new building (Block C), located in Beirut, Airport Road, on Friday, September 15, 2023. The event featured a diverse assembly of academic, trade unions, cultural, municipal, and educational figures, as well as representatives from military and security leadership. The guests were led by His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Shkeir, representative the Deputy Head of the Higher Shia Islamic Council, MP Dr. Ibrahim Al-Moussawi, and the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Dr. Ali Kanj, representative the President of the Lebanese University; in addition to several members of the University Board of Trustees, University Council, and members of the academic and administrative bodies.
After reciting verses from the Holy Qur’an and playing the Lebanese national anthem, the master of the ceremony, Dr. Talih Hamdan, welcomed the attendees. He then presented a corporate video featuring the university and focusing on its faculties, recent developments, and future projects.
After welcoming the guests, MU president Prof. Ali Alaeddine expressed gratitude to Al Shaheed (Martyr) Foundation and Al Rassoul Al Aazam Faculty of Health Sciences’ Board of Trustees "for their trust and approval for the faculty's inclusion within the university following all the necessary legal procedures during which the Higher Education Council has consented to its integration and the administrative and academic oversight until the issuance of the decree by the Cabinet.”
Prof. Alaeddine emphasized that Block C represents the university's third building, set to accommodate students from the faculties of Business Administration, Sciences, and Health Sciences. He commended the dedicated efforts of both the academic and administrative teams at the university and the faculty. He also praised the team responsible for the building's maintenance, refurbishment, and equipping, highlighting that it was done to the highest technical and office standards, including state-of-the-art security measures. This preparation ensures that the building will be ready to welcome students without any delay at the start of the current academic year on September 18, 2023.
MU president announced the opening of the faculty of Education and the commencement of teaching across its various disciplines. He stated, “This initiative aims to provide a genuine opportunity for the students of our community and our country, so that its graduates can serve our generations by imparting beneficial knowledge to them and upholding their ethical and educational values in the face of the assault our youth and children are exposed to, which promotes deviant ideas and works to break down the family structure and undermine our values."
President Alaeddine reassured the graduates and students of the faculty of Engineering that "following the faculty's program recognition, the Committee for the Practice of the Engineering Profession at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education has granted permission for the faculty's graduates to practice the engineering profession. This final legal step allows them to engage in the profession and join the Engineers' Syndicate."
At the end of the ceremony, attendees proceeded to the ribbon-cutting event and then toured the building, exploring the classrooms, administrative offices, library, and applied laboratories. They had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with equipment and facilities selected to meet the highest technical and technological standards.
The tour ended with a cocktail party in honor of the guests.
