MU Organizes Second Annual Book Fair

Under the patronage of the President of Al Maaref University, Professor Ali Alaeddine, the university's libraries organized the Second Annual Book Fair titled 'Books: Unlocking Knowledge' over the course of three days, from May 14 to 16, 2024, at the university campus (Building C). The event saw participation from 19 publishers, libraries, institutions, and centers and was attended by a large number of high school students, university students, and faculty members.

During the opening ceremony, the Vice President of the University, Dr. Jalal Jomaa, delivered a speech welcoming the participants and attendees. He emphasized the importance of physical reading materials and their unique appeal, despite the technological advancements in information sources. Dr. Jomaa stressed that "there is always time for reading no matter how busy one gets, as it hones individual skills based on a love of learning, exploration, and constructive criticism."

In her remarks, Librarian Ms. Heba Yassin emphasized that the fair is part of the university's efforts to provide students with as much knowledge as possible during their academic journey and to enrich their information resources. She noted that "reading should be a culture that individuals acquire to build personalities capable of finding facts, being educated, and being thoughtful in order to contribute to society with their energy and talents."

The fair included a discussion of the book "Hassan and Jouri: Letters in a Time of War" with the author Najwa Raad in attendance. The participants were:
