On Wednesday February 3, 2021, the Department of Translation and Languages at Al-Maaref University held a webinar via Google Meet entitled: “Religious Translation: Its Path and Its Difficulties”.

Mr. Mohamad Jradi, the Head of the Translation Department at the Sapiential Knowledge Institute, was the keynote speaker in the webinar. He made his presentation in the presence of the Chairperson of the Department, Ms. Zeinab Anis Jaber, translation instructors and students from several universities.

The speaker shed light on his journey that started from education to specialization then to professional work, stressing the difficulties that a religious translator may face, including comprehension of the source text ideas, the scientific language and the specialized language and terminology, and the accurate transfer of the author’s style.

At the end, Mr. Jradi addressed the students interested in the religious translation field, advising them to intensify relevant readings, give the Arabic language more attention, and participate in specialized courses and workshops. He then left a window for questions.
