Winners in MU's Fourth Translation Prize Announced
The Department of Translation and Languages at Al Maaref University announced, on Wednesday, May 18, 2021, the results of the Fourth Translation Prize competition.
The first three winners within the four combinations came as follows:
First combination: From Arabic to English
- First place: Mojtaba Jawad Mortada, Al-Mahdi High School - Tyre.
- Second Place: Fatima Walid Al-Baalbaki, Al-Mustafa High School - Nabatieh.
- Third Place: Ahmed Emad Kassir, Al-Mustafa High School - Haret Hreik.
The second combination: from English to Arabic
- First place: Zahra Muhammad Assaf, Ghobeiry Third Official High School for Girls.
- Second Place: Saleh Hamza Marji, Imam Al-Mahdi High School - Hadath.
- Third Place: Zahra Hamza Al-Hawli, Imam Al-Mahdi High School - Hadath.
Third Combination: From Arabic to French
- First place: Sarah Youssef Ajami, Imam Al-Mahdi High School - Hadath.
- Second Place: Ghadeer Muhammad Mustafa, Imam Al-Mahdi High School - Hadath.
- Third place: Zainab Al-Hawra Hassan Hammoud, Imam Al-Mahdi High School - Hadath.
Fourth Combination: From French to Arabic
- First place: Muhammad Nader Shaito, Imam al-Mahdi High School - Hadath.
- Second Place: Marianne Muhammad Mustafa, Imam Al-Mahdi High School - Hadath.
- Third place: Zahra Ali Marji, Imam Al Mahdi High School - Hadath.
The Department of Translation and Languages had launched the competition on the World Arabic Language Day, in cooperation with the Union of Arab Translators and the Arab Organization for Translation (AOT), and sponsored by Librairie du Liban Publishers (LDLP). The competition included four different combination: English - Arabic, Arabic - English, French - Arabic, Arabic - French. The competition took place on Saturday, February 20, 2021, via Google Meet where dozens of students from different private and public schools across Lebanon participated.
