Hoballah: for more progress and success to Al Maaref University
On Thursday, May 7th, 2020, at four o'clock in the afternoon, a delegation from Al Maaref University headed by the President of the University, Dr. Ali Alaeddine, visited His Excellency, the Minister of Industry, Dr. Imad Hoballah, in his office at the Ministry’s building. During the visit, an electronic application that contributes to reducing the spread of the Coronavirus was carried to His Excellency.
At the start, His Excellency welcomed the members of the delegation, and expressed his wishes for more progress and success to Al Maaref University, as well as his high appreciation for all the efforts made by the University in terms of offering a quality of higher education. In return, the President of Al Maaref University acknowledged the Minister's confidence in the universities' role and their contribution towards developing national industrial production.
The visit included, introducing the electronic application "e-attender", which was designed by the Information Technology and Systems Directorate's team at Al Maaref University. As this application limits the usage of permanent machines that rely on "manual fingerprint", and by which it contributes to reducing the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), and enables employees in organizations to record their attendance schedules and have them saved on their personal phones. That results in a reduced rate of individuals' interactions plus the avoidance of a frequent touch of the device itself, as well as by reducing the effort required in calculating the employees' working hours.
The President of the University offered this application so it can be used in public and private institutions by the Ministry, in an initiative that would help to limit the exacerbation spread of the Coronavirus among people.
At the end of the visit, His Excellency the Minister Hoballah promised to accept Dr. Alaeddine's invitation and to visit the university as soon as possible.
This visit comes as part of the Scientific Advisory Council for Industrial Development tasks that were established as an initiative of the Ministry of Industry, with the objectives of scientific guidance for high-quality Lebanese manufacturing. Also, to stimulate Lebanese competencies in the industrial field in cooperation with universities and industrialists.
