Hosting the Follow-Up Day for the Annual Robotics Championship
Al Maaref University hosted the "Follow Up Day" for the teams participating in the fourth annual robotics championship ARC4 on Saturday, March 3, 2018. The championship was organized this year under the title "Robot In The Service of Municipal Work" with the participation of more than one hundred students from various educational levels (primary grades, secondary grades, university students) constituting 124 teams from different Lebanese cities, nine teams from Syria, and one team from Ghana-Africa. The event aims to follow up the work of the teams that designed and programmed the robots and help them solve the technical obstacles they may face before the championship.
The director of “Kalimat” Academy for Robot, Mr. Ahmed Al-Husseini, explained that “the competition aims to spread the culture of robotics among young people, and it promotes the concepts of using technology and its applications among university and school students from different academic stages.” Moreover, he pointed out that the championship will be held onApril 21 at the campus of the Lebanese University – Faculty of Science.
This year’s championship is divided into four levels:
- Sumo and project
- Race Robot
- Challenge football
- MiniMize
In light of this, the Director of the Student Affairs at Al Maaref University, Mr. Hussein Nasser, said that "As Al Maaref University, we participated in sponsoring the robot competition to encourage creativity, science, and production", adding that “the competition carries within it many meanings and concepts that we encourage to develop intelligence and innovation for students of all ages”.
The championship is organized by “Kalimat” Association, the Municipality of Haret Hreik and the Teachers' Congregation in Beirut, sponsored by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Lebanon as well as a number of Lebanese universities, including Al Maaref University, and in partnership with a number of municipalities and commercial, media, and educational institutions.
