"Lebanon's Credit Rating" workshop
The Faculty of Business Administration at Al-Maaref University participated in a specialized workshop entitled “Downgrading of Lebanon's Credit Rating and its Impact on the Banking Sector”, organized by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners - Lebanon Branch, in the presence of the President of the Association of Banks in Lebanon, Dr. Salim Sfeir and “Fitch” credit rating specialists at the Lancaster Eden Bay Hotel in Al Ramla al Baydaa.
The workshop was attended by specialists in economic, financial and banking affairs from various private sectors, and non-governmental sectors, and from the Faculty of Business; Dean Dr. Hussin Hejase and his Assistant Dean Dr. Ali Al Dirani, in addition to Accounting Department Chairman Dr. Hasan Rkein.
During the workshop, Dr. Sfeir talked about the impact of the rating on banks, loans and interests, addressing the concerned authorities to seek to raise the rating within a period not exceeding the first quarter of 2020. The workshop focused on the economic and financial situation of the government and the banks, and its effect on the rating. It also addressed the mechanism and standards adopted by the "Fitch" Foundation in keeping the rating of Lebanon.
