Meeting China's Cultural Attache
A delegation from Al Maaref University visited China's cultural attaché Chen Zhonglin at the Chinese Embassy's headquarters in Beirut on Thursday, December 21, 2017. It included the Scientific and Academic Advisor of the University, Professor Talal Atrissi, the Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Religions and Human Sciences, Dr. Kamal Lezzeik and the Director of the Media and Public Relations.
The meeting with China's Cultural Attache was an opportunity to introduce the university's mission, vision and educational services including its latest scientific and academic activities carried out in the past years since establishment in 2015.
Professor Atrissi expressed the university's keen interest in learning about the university experience in China since China as a country has continuously enjoyed important international political and economic status. He also pointed out that the "Chinese cultural and university experience is not very well known as compared with Western experience. Clearly, China has adopted an independent path in the fields of development and culture. "
China's cultural attaché presented to the delegation some experiences of previous cooperation with the Lebanese University and the possibility of obtaining scholarships to pursue postgraduate studies in Chinese universities.
In the meeting, it was agreed to follow up on the following issues:
- Inviting China's Cultural Attaché to deliver lecture on the university experience in China at Al Maaref University
-Inviting a Chinese academic specialist to lecture on "teaching disciplines of humanities in the Chinese universities" in Al Maaref University.
- Having a participation of a Chinese representative in a conference that Al Maaref university intends to hold about Humanities at the end of the year 2018.
