Monitoring Psychological behavioral Disorders among Students
On 20 April 2018, the Directorate of Human Resources at Al Maaref University organized a workshop under the title of "Monitoring Psychological and Behavioral Disorders among Students." Dr. Ahmed Nasser, a Family Physician, and Psychologist ran the workshop for a group administrative and academic staff who would frequently be in contacts with students of diversified social and cultural backgrounds.
Dr. Nasser began the workshop by introducing the environment of the mental health in the community in general, and in universities in particular, thus introducing the meaning of the psychological disorder phenomenon and the reasons for its emergence. He then explained the most important success factors in establishing psychological immunity that prevents the negative impact on the mental health.
Subsequently, Dr. Nasser presented statistics on the prevalence of the psychological disorder, referring mainly to some of those studies that were conducted in universities, and pointing out to the most critical indicators that require the need for consultation and referral to a specialist.
In the workshop, which lasted for two hours, Dr. Nasser drew the attention to the psychological treatment and its types and providing insights on the intricate and close impact of course instructors on students. He believed that the role of the university would be essential in enhancing the provisions of psychological care.
