MU President in a Dialogue Meeting with New Students
The Directorate of Student Affairs at Al Maaref University (MU) held a dialogue meeting between the President of the University, Prof. Ali Alaeddin and the newly registered students for the academic year 2017-2018, on Tuesday, 24/10/2017, in the main hall of the University, Mr Hussein Nasser, the Director of the Directorate, pointed out that "the student is the focus of all academics and administrators of the university, and this is why the university strives to take care of her/him educationally, culturally, and socially. The Directorate is committed fully to organize various programs and activities that contribute to the crystallization, refinement and development of the students’ personality, talents and capabilities. Mr Nasser added to say that “such a dialogue meeting is expected to be repeated at the beginning of each semester. Always the early periods of the semester are crucial in motivating students and preparing them for adaptation, integration and involvement in the university environment, on the one hand, and giving them the opportunity to communicate directly with the University President, on the other hand."
For his part, the University President welcomed the new students at his first meeting this year. During the meeting, he reviewed several topics, including the mission of the university and its objectives, the horizons and future projects. Professor Ali Alaeddin stressed that "the university is not-for-profit, but we consider ourselves to serve a lofty mission by providing a sound environment for students and distinguished and distinguishable fields of study. The MU’s graduate receives a worthy certificate that creates a secure access path to the job market.
Professor Alaeddin pointed out that "the university considers science is a message and virtue and has a responsibility in the development of creative, effective and ethical graduates. The President also stressed the importance of adhering to the scientific, academic and administrative quality standards that lead to accommodate authenticity and modernity. He also confirmed that " building the apostolic and ethical human- in addition to the commitment to science - is a mandatory bridge in the uprise of human civilization". Having said this, the President noted the joint responsibility that the stakeholders have toward the university’s mission by pointing out that "together we are at the heart of the contribution to the development of society and building our nation".
The University President addressed the significance of the student-centredness policy the university has adopted, proving the idea that the “University seeks to provide all the requirements in support of the educational process," mentioning that "that the student has a critical role in keeping up with achieving the desired goals." The President declared that he “ in full support of activating all types of students’ activities on a larger scale in the university.
On the other hand, the University President took the opportunity to draw the attention of students of the current achievement that the Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Sciences has done. “ Both Faculties have purchased, the best and up-to-date equipment and laboratories, and recruited the best course instructors in the fields of studies”.
Finally, Professor Alaeddin, reassured the students that “the university support is continuous”, informing the new students that” the university intends to expand and develop further at more than one level, particularly in acquiring licenses to deliver some Masters programs, the opening of new university branches in the South and East of Lebanon; as well as obtaining the license for establishing a new faculty, the Faculty of Education”.
Professor Alaeddin discussed the university's relationship with the Ministry of Higher Education, drawing the attention to the fact that the university "is law-abiding and has a commitment not to start teaching until it gets a decree and license for it. The university is in full commitment to all the legal requirements in higher education”.
At the end of the meeting, the new students had an indispensable opportunity to address questions to the University President and have listened to them.
