University Board of Trustees and Council Meet for Iftar 2017
Under the patronage of the Minister of Industry, Dr. Hussein Hajj Hasan, and in the presence of the Minister of National Defense, Mr. Yaacoub Al Sarraf (a member of the Board of Trustees), Al Maaref University held its annual Iftar at Bridge Restaurant on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, in honor of the Board of Trustees attended by the President of Al Maaref, Professor Ali Ala'a El Din, along with the university's Board of Directors.
Under the patronage of the Minister of Industry, Dr. Hussein Hajj Hasan, and in the presence of the Minister of National Defense, Mr. Yaacoub Al Sarraf (a member of the Board of Trustees), Al Maaref University held its annual Iftar at Bridge Restaurant on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, in honor of the Board of Trustees attended by the President of Al Maaref, Professor Ali Ala'a El Din, along with the university's Board of Directors.
Initially, the President took the opportunity to praise the occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadan and congratulated the university on obtaining the license to establish two new faculties, the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Sciences. The move brings the new faculties together with the existing three: Business Administration, Mass Communication and Fine Arts and Religion and Social Sciences, and classes will commence with the start of the academic year 2017-2018.
The President went on to reassure that the subject of obtaining a license for the Faculty of Education is in process, in addition to the licensing prospects of the university's two new branches in Nabatieh and Baalbeck (south and north-east of Lebanon respectively), pointing out that the university completed all necessary requirements and prerequisites to establish these faculties since summer 2016. Prof. Ali ended his speech by giving emphases to the importance of maintaining quality education of the highest of standards through the most advanced academic systems and educational techniques in a modern framework that combines science, ethics, justice, forgiveness and the best of religious, national and humane values.
This was followed by a word from Professor Ali Zaytoun, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, who considered that, in record timing, Al Maaref University was able to give the utmost importance to their students by providing exceptional academic conditions to grant the best scholastic results. He stressed on the important role the university played in developing the skills and talents of students to eventually build a flourishing and prosperous society.
Finally, the closing word was for the Minister of Industry, Dr. Hussein Hajj Hasan, who focused on the major three milestones the university has set for itself of which two major feats have already been achieved: the phase of establishment and the organizational framework that can now be used as a model for other institutions, hoping to achieve the third and most important milestone; elevating the university’s status among the rest of the elite universities across Lebanon which will promote to its success, no doubt with the presence of the well-equipped administration and educators.
